Kamakhya Temple
According to the temple Dharma Puranas, it is believed that this Shaktipeeth got its name Kamakhya because at this place Lord Vishnu made 51 parts of Mata Sati with his wheel to break Lord Shiva's infatuation with Mother Sati, where these parts fell.
But a Shaktipeeth of Mata was built and at this place Mata's yoni had fallen, which is a very powerful Peeth today. Although there is an influx of devotees throughout the year, but this temple has a different importance on Durga Puja, Pohan Biya, Durgadeul, Vasanti Puja, Madandeul, Ambuvasi and Manasa Puja, due to which lakhs of devotees reach here these days.
